TALES OF AFRICA
‘This project has reminded me that I can surprise myself, that I’m capable of doing things I previously thought impossible’ -James Price (23)
It was such an amazing experience to be in a professional show alongside so many talented dancers, I was really inspired’. – Isobel Nnama Johnson (14)
Tales of Africa was a theatre dance project that took place in partnership with Theatre Peckham with support from Arts Council England. Inspired and performed by some of most talented emerging young artists, Tales of Africa was black lead and artistically diverse, featuring both professional and emerging dancers.
The show was made up of a series of short captivating tales from African folklore - the motherland ancestry, spiritual figures, animals and nature were explored through movement and mythological symbolism with the mask reflecting the shifting energies of the score.
Tales of Africa was performed at Theatre Peckham on the 18th August 2018
